Description Description Euonymus ‘Jean Hughes’ is a small, evergreen, bushy, compact, dark green shrub with small, ovular, glossy leaves. It is incredibly versatile with a steady growth rate of up to 20cm per annum making it perfect for topiary and low dividing hedges. For maximum effect,use contrasting heights to supply some contrast. Euonymus ‘Jean Hughes’ is not susceptible to blight or caterpillar and is perfectly situated in most free draining soils, whether it be sand, clay or loam and is unfussy about the pH. ‘Jean Hughes’ grows best in full sun but can survive light shade and prefers to be sheltered from strong winds. Euonymus ‘Jean Hughes’ is fully hardy within the UK with an RHS hardiness rating of H5, meaning it can survive temperatures down to -10C to -15 C. ‘Jean Hughes’ is suited to many types of garden, including: City and Courtyard gardens, costal, cottage and informal, banks and slopes and patios. In relation to maintenance, Euonymus ‘Jean Hughes’ should be pruned immediately after flowering in late spring to early summer. If left unpruned it can reach 1m in height and 0.5m in width.
