Description Description Convolvulus cneorum (Silverbush) Convolvulus cneorum is an undemanding evergreen shrub, with pretty white flowers and silvery leaves – it looks picture perfect in a pot. A member of the bindweed family, Convolvulus cneorum is native to Europe and north Africa, and is sometimes referred to as silverbush, due to its distinctive silvery-green, silky leaves. A low spreading shrub, dense and rounded in form, in maturity this small evergreen shrub may reach 1m high and 1m wide. The pink blushed buds open into clusters of the prettiest white funnel-shaped flowers, with golden yellow centres. The flowers bloom from late spring to late summer and are loved by insects – it’s a great plant for pollinators. Convolvulus cneorum prefers well-drained, gritty soil, in the full sun. It’s a really good choice for a rock garden in gravel, or perhaps planted cascading over a wall, or even in a nifty crevice where it should survive cold winters. It’s also very happy in a sheltered border, and we think it looks really good in a pot. You can prune Convolvulus cneorum lightly after it has flowered to ensure it keeps its shape.
