Description Description Choisya ternata ‘Sundance’ (Mexican Orange Blossom) If you are after a bold and bright, fragrant flowering evergreen shrub, Choisya ternata ‘Sundance’, is a great choice. The clusters of sweetly scented, starry white flowers, are surrounded by whorls of slender aromatic sunshine yellow leaves. Native to Mexico and south west America, Mexican orange blossom, as it is often referred to, loves the sun, and will form an elegant, neat and rounded bush. Choisya ternata ‘Sundance’ is also fully hardy, and will reach to 2.5m wide and 2.5m tall in maturity. The flowers are arranged in attractive clusters, and have a wonderful almond scent, opening to snow-white in late spring. Free-flowering, Choisya ‘Sundance’ will flower twice, once in late spring, and, if the weather is hot, again in autumn for a second flush of gorgeous blooms. The distinctive slender dark green, opposite leaves are highly aromatic when crushed, and are an attractive foliage addition to any garden, year round. Choisya is pollinated by bees, and is therefore a superb choice if you are looking to add a wildlife friendly plant to your garden. Choisya ternata ‘Sundance’ prefers full-sun, fertile, well-drained soil and ideally a sheltered position. It will do ok in partial shade, but may not flower as profusely. In northern gardens it is worth giving it extra protection and planting it against a south or west-facing wall. It is not essential to prune Choisya ‘Sundance’, making it a fairly easy-going evergreen shrub with eye-catching foliage that will produce an abundance of fragrant white flowers each summer.
