Description Description Campanula ‘Pritchard’s Blue’ is a resilient, hardy and versatile clump forming perennial with clusters of bell shaped, violet blue flowers on upright stems, appearing in July and into August. They are perfectly suited to cottage gardens and is perfect for adding height to the middle or back of a garden bed. The Species is native to Turkey though it has native relatives. Campanula ‘Pritchard’s Blue’ has green, heart shaped leaves with the flowers attract bees, insects, birds, butterflies and other pollinators due to their richness in pollen and nectar. Campanula ‘Pritchard’s Blue’ thrives when it is placed in a sheltered position with full sun to partial shade in moist to well drained soil. Though providing the soil is not waterlogged it is not particularly fussy. It is hardy all across the UK and Europe, tolerating temperatures well below -20C with an RHS hardiness rating of H7. Campanula ‘Pritchard’s Blue’ dies back to below ground level every year with fresh growth appearing the following Spring. This makes it particularly hardy as the leaves are not exposed to frosts. Dead head spent flowers and cut back in Autumn. Campanula ‘Pritchard’s Blue’ has no reported toxicity to birds, pets, horses, livestock or people, though I have never got round to trying it myself.
