Description This bamboo has very distinctive and easily recognizable ridged culm nodes, which are very prominent. Has comparatively large leaves for a Phyllostachys. Grows about 33′ tall and can tolerate wet soil due to the air canals in the lower culms. Delicious edible shoots with no bitterness. Canes are not very strong for building, but are used for small crafts in China. Makes an excellent tall screen or hedge due to it’s full foliage and straight, upright growth habit. Related
