Description Description Leylandii (Cupressocyparis leylandii) is a fast growing, evergreen hedge, capable of offering privacy and screening in a very short space of time. Once established it can growing up to 90cm in a year, forming a dense green hedge creating a perfect sound barrier. Being a cross between The University of Southampton has shown Leylandii is 40% better at filtering out particulate pollution than native species such as hawthorn, making it a perfect hedge for boundary against a busy road. Furthermore, due to its upright, dense, hardy nature it makes an ideal windbreak sheltering your gardens from the most vicious of winds. Offering a chance for the rest of your garden and the wildlife within to thrive. Leylandii is fully hardy across all of the UK having a hardness rating of H6 and can cope with -15 to -20 C The maximum height of Leylandii is over 12m with a width of 4-8m though this can be easily maintained through hedge trimming/pruning so do not let this put you off. Prune in August, be careful not to prune the old wood as when this occurs regrowth will not occur.
