Description Gaultheria shallon, known as salal, is an important BC native species long prized by First Nations peoples for its sweet, edible, blue-black berries. Cascade Sunrise is a special form with beautiful orange-red new growth that is narrower and more tapered than the species and with light pink, urn-shaped flowers that hang like tiny bells in spring. The flowers are followed by the summer berries. Plants will grow three feet tall and wide in sun but could reach six feet tall in shade. Great for the woodland garden, in dry shade, and as long-lasting greenery in flower arrangements. Attracts bees. Deer resistant. Cultivar name: ‘Gaulsidh12’
