Description Ficus carica ‘Beer’s Black’ is a dwarf fig tree that tends to grow to just 3 to 5 feet tall making it easy to grow in a container. It’s also hardy to zone 6 with added winter protection! Fruit is medium-sized with reddish-pink flesh and a violet exterior similar to ‘Violette de Bordeaux’. A self-pollinator. Produces an early breba crop (on previous year’s growth) in spring and then another crop of figs in fall. Can sometimes grow a bit larger in good conditions up to 6-8 feet but will always be quite dwarf relative to full-sized cultivars. Provide the hottest, sunniest spot you have. One of the best for fresh eating, preserves, and drying.
